Speaker: SONG Dong

 

SONG Dong is an outstanding contemporary Chinese artist.

Many of his works feature this statement: "That which goes undone goes undone in vain. That which is done is done still in vain. That done in vain must still be done." Exceptionally genuine and down-to-earth, SONG conveys his faith in works of art that are inseparable from life. Through art, he responds to society and relates to people. The Visiting Professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing Film Academy and Guangdong Art Academy has moved international audiences in numerous major exhibitions and institutions, including dOCUMENTA 13 (2012), Venice Biennale (2011) and the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2009). Waste Not, a very touching installation done in collaboration with his mother, received the Grand award at the Gwangju Biennial 2006. SONG was an artist-in-residence at Asia Art Archive from 2011 to 2012. In January 2013, Asia Art Archive and Mobile M+ will present his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong at ArtisTree. The artist will collaborate with more than 400 audience members to realize his work 36 Calendars

 

송 동은 이시대의 걸출한 이 시대의 중국인 아티스트이다. 그의 작품들은 특색이 넘친다. “그일들은 미완성 상태로 게속 시도 되고 있다. 그럼 에도 어떤 완료되었다. 헛됨 속에서도 될 것은 꼭 된다.” 유난히 진심되고 현실적이다. 그의 삶과 떼어 낼수 없는 예술을 그의 신념에 따라 전달해내고 있다. 그는 그의 예술을 통해 사람들과 관련된 사회를 만나고 있다. 그는 중앙 아카데미의 객원 교수이며 베이징 필름 아카데미와 광동 예술 아카데미의 교수이기도 하다. 그는 국제적인 청중들이 모이는 움직이는 전시회와 기관들을 열기도 하였다. dOCUMENTA 13 (2012), Venice Biennale (2011) and the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2009)를 통해서 말이다. 그는 낭비하지 않는 설치 물을 그는 그의 어머니와의 공동 작업을 안에서 만들었고 그것을 광주 비엔날레(2006)에서 인정을 받았다. 송은 2011에서 2012동안 아시아 예술 아카이브에서 상주하며 예술 활동을 벌여왔다. 2013년 1월에는 아시아 예술 아카이브과 모바일 M플러스는 홍콩에 있는 ArtisTree에서 그의 첫 번째 개인전을 연다. 그는 400명의 사람들과 함께 36달동안 그의 작업을 함께 실현해볼 예정이다.
