Written On The Body (2009)

Written On The Body
Directed By M.J. One
2009 / 27min 29sec / DV

Written on the Body is an adaptation of Jeanette Winterson’s novel,
made only by re-editing the clips of movies starring Nicole Kidman.

The novel is a simple story; love found, love lost, love found again - maybe.
The unnamed narrator falls for a married woman called Louise.
As they fall in love, Louise leaves her husband.
However, finding Louise has cancer,
the narrator leaves her to expect that she will be looked after by her husband, a doctor.

This film is a piggyback art created by re-editing Hollywood feature films,
and an experimental video which asks about the boundaries
between Fan Video and Video Art.
Also this movie is a digital love letter to a long distance lover.

Through this film, I tried to show a way of translating the sentence in the novel,
It’s the clichés cause the trouble
into a film.
