I think the biggest advantage of HPS is we learn about the times and the context we are living in. Therefore we, the learners are clear that our learning is connected to ourselves. There are no specified text books or regular subjects such as science in HPS. Instead, we write our own plan for each term. After writing the plan, they need to be confirmed by the supervisors. To show that the student and the supervisor agree with the plan, they both sign on the paper. This is the first step of their learning. Students learn to plan their own future. There are many projects in our school, but some of the projects require skills. For example, if you make a video, you need to have the techniques and knowledge on the angles of the camera, editing the film etc. However, the aim for this project is not to learn all the techniques of videos. We learn to operate projects, and express our thoughts through video. We not only have team goals, but also individual goals. I think this is the true humanities studies. We learn by really doing it.

내가 생각했을 때 하자작업장학교가 가지고 있는 가장 큰 이점은 우리가 살고 있는 시대와 맥락에 대해 배운다는 점이다. 그렇기 때문에 배우고자 하는 우리들은 우리 자신과 연결되어있는 학습을 할 수 있다. 하자작업장학교에서는 특정한 교과서나 과학과 같은 일반 교과목이 없다. 대신 우리는 각 학기마다 학습계약서를 쓴다. 학습계약서를 쓴 다음에는 각 판돌에게 승인을 받아야 한다. 이 계약서에 동의를 표하기 위해, 죽돌과 판돌은 이 종이에 사인을 한다. 이 부분은 배움을 시행하는 첫 단계라고 볼 수 있다. 죽돌들은 자신의 미래를 스스로 설계하는 방법을 배운다. 하자작업장학교에서는 많은 프로젝트가 있으며, 그 중 기술을 필요로 하는 작업들도 존재한다. 예를 들어, 영상을 만들 때는, 카메라의 각도, 편집 등의 기술과 지식이 있어야 한다. 허나 이 프로젝트의 목표는 영상을 만들 때 필요한 기술을 모두 배우는 것이 아니다. 이 작업을 통해 우리는 프로젝트를 진행시키는 것과 영상을 통해 우리의 생각을 표현하는 법을 배운다. 팀의 목표가 있지만, 개개인의 목표도 존재한다. 내 생각에는 이것이 진짜 인문학 수업이라고 생각한다. 우린 우리 자신이 직접 경험을 함으로써 배운다.
